Masonic & Fraternal History
Brother Robert D. Simmons Jr. has been a dedicated member of Pythagoras Lodge No. 11 since March 25, 2013. From the outset of his Masonic journey, he demonstrated a steadfast commitment to growth and leadership, progressing through the chairs as Senior Steward (2013), Junior Deacon (2014), Senior Deacon (2015), Junior Warden (2016), and Senior Warden (2017). He went on to serve with distinction as Worshipful Master in 2018 and 2019, providing principled and effective leadership to his lodge.
At the District level, Brother Simmons served as Assistant District Deputy Grand Master from 2020 to 2024 and was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the Savannah First Masonic District in 2024, a position in which he continues to lead with purpose and integrity.
He also contributes to the Grand Lodge by serving as Assistant to the Right Worshipful Grand Treasurer and his Assistant.
Among his most rewarding experiences is mentoring new brothers in the Order and watching them grow into capable leaders and positive role models. For Brother Simmons, witnessing their development is both humbling and fulfilling, as it affirms the enduring strength and values of the Masonic tradition.

Community & Church Involvement
Brother Simmons is an active and faithful member of First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where he serves as Director of Security, is part of the BRO Ministry, and offers support wherever needed.
His heart for service extends into the community, where he works to uplift others by stepping beyond silos of difference and seeking to serve all in need, regardless of background, through both civic and faith-based service.
Personal Background
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Brother Simmons is a proud graduate of H.V. Jenkins High School (Class of 2008). He earned a B.S. in Forensic Science with a minor in Chemistry from Albany State University in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Leadership and Executive Management from Kaplan University in 2015.
He holds multiple P.O.S.T. certifications including Peace Officer, Field Training Officer, and General Instructor. Professionally, he serves as the Coordinating Chief for the Georgia Department of Community Supervision in the Eastern Judicial Circuit.
He is the son of Sister Linda Simmons (Savannah Chapter No. 159) and the late Past Master Robert Simmons Sr. (Pythagoras Lodge No. 11). He is married to Sister Blake Simmons (Savannah Chapter No. 159), and together they have one beautiful daughter, Sevyn Maelea’ Simmons.
Brother Simmons is driven by his deep passion to help people and a vision for unified service. He believes we must move beyond limitations and serve every human being who needs support – with love, dignity, and grace.
