Sister Carol D. Magwood has been a dedicated member of Prince Hall Chapter No. 258 since February 17, 1997. Throughout her years of service, she has held numerous positions, including Worthy Matron (2003 and 2014–2015), Associate Matron, Conductress, Esther, Adah, and U.S. Flagbearer. Her leadership extended beyond her Chapter when she was appointed District Worthy Matron of the Savannah First Masonic District, Order of the Eastern Star. She served with grace and distinction from 2016 to 2022.
At the Grand Chapter level, Sister Magwood currently serves as Grand U.S. Flagbearer, a position she has held since 2023, and also serves on the Grievance Committee.
Her most rewarding accomplishments include her service alongside her sisters and brothers within her chapter and district, and the honor of representing the Jurisdiction as Grand U.S. Flagbearer.

Community & Church Involvement
Sister Magwood is an active member of The Historic Second African Baptist Church, where she serves faithfully as the Assistant Director of Christian Education, a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Usher Ministry. Her commitment to service extends beyond the church. In addition to the Order of the Eastern Star (OES), she is a proud member of several civic and community-focused organizations including Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD), National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the Savannah Mission Bible Training Center. Through these affiliations, she continuously volunteers her time to uplift, mentor, and support others throughout the community.
Personal Background
A native of Savannah, Georgia, Sister Magwood graduated from Savannah High School and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from South University and a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University. She recently retired on December 27, 2024, after 40 years of dedicated federal service as a Paralegal Analyst with the Social Security Administration, Office of Hearings Operations.
