On Saturday, May 18th, the Prince Hall Center radiated with elegance and sisterhood during the 2025 Lillian E. Blake Queen Extravaganza, hosted by the First Masonic District of Savannah. With the theme “A Legacy of Timeless Tradition,” the evening honored the longstanding values of dignity, grace, and unity that define the Order of the Eastern Star.
Held annually, this signature event celebrates the crowning of the District Queen while raising funds for the Sol C. Johnson Scholarship Fund, which supports students pursuing higher education. Scholarships are awarded to newly graduated high school seniors who are enrolled in college, technical school, or university, as well as students who are currently attending an accredited college, university, or technical institution.
This year’s event was a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in education and the next generation. Adorned in classic white gowns, gloves, and pearls, each Chapter Queen represented her chapter with elegance, proudly standing as a symbol of service, dedication, and sisterhood.
Amid beautiful golden and white decor, the spotlight was on the beautiful Grand Pearl, Sister Dottie Platts of Prince Hall Chapter No. 258, who was crowned as the 2025 District Queen. Her reign represents excellence, commitment to community, and a deep connection to the timeless values of the Order. Her chapter rejoiced in the culmination of dedicated fundraising and service efforts that led to this proud moment.
Sister Platts will go on to represent Savannah’s First Masonic District in June at the Annual Lillian E. Blake Queen Extravaganza during the Annual Grand Session, where she will stand among 24 District Queens from across the Jurisdiction of Georgia. This exciting event will highlight her poise, leadership, and the strength of the district she proudly represents.
The Queen Extravaganza also paid tribute to the legacy of Lillian E. Blake, a revered figure whose name lives on through this noble tradition. Her vision of uplifting young people through education continues to resonate in every scholarship awarded.
District leaders extended heartfelt congratulations to all participating chapters and honored the ongoing commitment to education and community service.
This year’s celebration was not only a showcase of poise and pride, but a testament to the enduring impact of charitable giving and mentorship. As we move forward under the banner of “A Legacy of Timeless Tradition,” the First Masonic District remains steadfast in its mission to uplift, empower, and educate.
Congratulations to the newly crowned 2025 District Queen Sister Dottie Platts, all chapter Queens, and the entire district for continuing to make a difference—one student, one scholarship, and one tradition at a time.
